Great group of people who volunteer their time to make it easier on those of us interested in the great and fascinating history of Lawrence County. Also very active and involved in the community. Not only are they reporting the past but they are impacting the future.
Interesting exhibits
I wish I had more time to explore all the other holdings in the Library but my time was limited this visit. I can't wait to return!
Got some great help and filled in some questions we had. Met many of my research needs.
Well worth the visit!
The bulk of my time was spent in the Research Library on the 2nd floor where I received assistance from Joyce Shepherd, Librarian in my quest for genealogical information. Ms. Shepherd was very helpful and allowed me to look through a number of holdings in the Library. My first day was spent verifying my sources with correct citations and reading through files identifying what I wanted to copy. The 2nd day was spent copying the material. I am giving myself two years to line up my genealogical ducks and submit what I hope will be a scholarly (yet friendly) presentation to share with the Lawrence County Genealogical Society.
It was definitely a pleasure to spend two days at the Lawrence County Museum of History & Edward L. Hutton Research Library in the historic part of Bedford. The limestone building has a wonderfully curated museum that spans about 170 years in the county on the first floor - it's definitely not to be missed!
